Groombridge St. Thomas CE Primary School

A welcome from the Chair of Governors

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

Welcome to the Groombridge St Thomas Church of England School website from the Governing Body.

The Governing Body works hard to support the Headteacher, teaching staff and pupils with the aim of ensuring that St Thomas’ is the best that it can be.

The members that make up the Governing Body are chosen by the Church, the local authority, and parents. All our Governors have their own careers and responsibilities but they dedicate time to the school when they are able. Some will be visible in school more than others although all members of the board will carry out schools visits related to their areas of responsibilities. All are highly valued!

As well as sharing a common desire to be involved in supporting the school, the Governing Body have statutory duties by which they are legally bound. The Governing Body is ultimately responsible for all matters relating to the school including teaching and learning, safeguarding, health and safety, staffing, premises and ensuring financial accountability and sustainability. The full Governing Body meets regularly, while sub-committee meetings consider the more specific areas such as curriculum, staffing, resources and admissions.

The governing body are very proud of all ongoing outstanding achievements of the school and know this wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of the head teacher, class teachers, all of the support staff and, of course, the children. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them all, and also the parents and wider community who support us.

Particular thanks must go to the PTA. Their results of their fund raising efforts can be seen all around the school from IT infrastructure to arts and craft displays. That you all so much, keep doing what you are doing, raising money and having a lot of fun in the process.

The school consults with parents and carers on a regular basis. Please find a summary of feedback, actions and impact below.

We hope you find our website full of useful information. Do let us know!

Thank you,

Thomas Swann
